FREEZING OF ACCOUNTS UNDER VARIOUS SCHEMES
To ensure safety of depositors' hard-earned money and for ensuring effective KYC compliance, vide SB Order No. 25/2022, orders have been issued for freezing of accounts under various Small Savings Schemes which have matured but not closed even after completion of 3 years from the date of maturity as on 30.09.2019.
The following schemes will be covered :
(i) MIS/SCSS/TD/KVP/NSC/RD (matured but not extended)
(ii) PPF (matured but not extended)
If the account holder or the eligible nominees approach the post office in respect of such frozen accounts, the procedure prescribed in the SB Order should be followed :

The above orders have been amended vide SB Order No 10/2025 dated 15.07.2025 as per which, the freezing of accounts which have matured but not closed even after three years should be done two times in a year from 1st July and and 1st January for the periods ending 30th June and 31st December and the work should be completed within 15 days.
