MAHILA SAMMAN SAVINGS SCHEME
In a MSSC account, only one deposit can be made in the multiples of Rupees One hundred. The minimum deposit prescribed is Rs.1000/- and maximum Rs.2 lakhs.
A depositor can open multiple MSSC accounts but the total deposits in all the accounts put together should not exceed Rs.2 lakhs. In addition, there has to be a gap of at least three months if the depositor wants to open another account.
Maximum deposit limit prescribed in Rule 4('l) of Mahila Samman Savings Certificate, 2023 is for an Individual only. A depositor can open MSSC accounts in the name of a minor girl child also with a separate deposit limit of Rs.2 lakhs.
MSSC accounts can be opened at HO/SO/BOs by submitting AOF. Deposits can be made by transferring from depositor's SB account or by presenting Bank Cheque. Accounts can be opened through POSB Net banking also.
MSSC deposits are not exempted for the purpose of Income Tax. under 80C
At GDS Branch Offices, accounts can be opened by means of Cheque or by submitting SB-7 withdrawal form for transferring amount from depositor's SB account as per the procedure prescribed in SB Order No. 22/2020 and 32/2020
MSSC accounts cannot be operated through Agents.

As per SB Order No. 3/2025 dated 28.03.2025, acceptance of deposits under the scheme is discontinued with effect from 1.4.2025.
